The Ikemiyagi Family Crest

We of the Okinawa Dojo, International Student Branch (I.S.B.), use the family crest of Ikemiyagi-sensei to represent our particular branch of his dojo.  It is NOT intended as a replacement for the Meibukan Crest.  It is our way of honoring our particular teacher.  We do not use this symbol on our karate gis or in any "official" manner.   Ikemiyagi-sensei's family migrated to Okinawa more than 400 years ago, from China.  Ikemiyagi sensei is the 17th generation in a long and proud familiy line.  The family symbol was originally derived in China from the principals of yin and yang; more appropriately for us, "go" and "ju."
