GOJU-RYU MEIBUKAN

OKINAWA DOJO

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT BRANCH

The I.S.B. is a branch dojo (Shibu) of the Okinawa Dojo. I am the Shibu-Cho, meaning that I am the chief instructor at this particular dojo. I am not yet a "Sensei" and will not be for some time yet. It is my understanding that one can only rightfully take on the title fully when one has reached Go Dan. We train on Camp Foster in the "martial arts" room of Gunner’s Gym. We share the facility with a great bunch of people, including a group from the Isshin Ryu system of Master Angi Uezu.

We train from 8 to 10 o’clock PM on Tuesday and Thursday, and then again on Saturday night from 6 to 10 PM. The I.S.B Training Syllabus consists of: warm-ups, stretching, kihon, kata, kotekitae, gakie, kumite, contact drills, and, hojo undo (supplementary training: weights & equipment training).

If you ever come to Okinawa, please come and train with us, we LOVE visitors. Please bring a towel, a notebook and pencil, a bottle of water, and a mouthpiece.
